Ellie Goulding has gained her first number one with single ‘Burn’, the indie pop singer has
worked extremely hard over the last couple of years and gained several top 5
singles in the UK which includes ‘Starry Eyed’ , ‘Your Song’ , ‘Anything Could Happen’ , ‘I Need Your Love’
which features the amazing Calvin Harris.
I remember listening to Ellie when she started off from her career and
I just kept telling myself when will she get a number one single? After a
successful few years the wait was finally over, when I heard ‘Burn’ I instantly
thought to myself this is definitely a hit single, I just feel like Ellie’s
angelic voice fits in it very well with the up tempo rhythm mixed in. The song
is written by One Republic lead singer Ryan Tedder and was originally given to
Leona Lewis but she turned it down, giving Ellie Goulding a chance to have the
song. But I suppose ‘Anything Could Happen’ and it definitely went to the right
person at the end.

Lady Gaga has released her new music video and she doesn't fail to surprise anyone. The five time Grammy Award winning music sensation has worked with fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh
Matadin who also directed the music video. The video is mixed with art, fashion, fantasy
and dance which is something that Lady Gaga is interested in. The beginning of the music video it opens up
like a theatre stage and Lady Gaga is doing different performances in front of
her audiences, the one performance that grabbed my attention was when Lady Gaga
appeared as a bird, it’s something I didn’t expect. The monochrome effect makes
it darker and the costumes that Lady Gaga wears stands out from the crowd just
like what she does in reality.
In my opinion I feel like Lady Gaga is back and she’s back to be on top of
the charts once again. The music video is out of this world and has much likely
gained a lot of audiences from around the globe. I’m looking forward to see
what the rest of Lady Gaga album will sound like and what upcoming music she
has planned to release for her ‘Little Monsters’.
Lady Gaga is to perform the song ‘Applause’ at the 2013 MTV VMA on August 25, 2013 and she will be set to perform at the UK iTunes festival on September 1, 2013. All I’m going to say is that the ‘Mother Monster’ is well and truly back.

1. Snow Patrol - 'Just Say Yes'
This song will always be one of my favorite songs, and for some random reason It's been stuck in my head all week. I have been annoying my sisters by singing along to the chorus, all I'm going to say they will have to put up with it just a little bit longer. Gary Lightbody and his crew really know how to write some quality songs, maybe he should be given a chance to become a coach on The Voice UK as he is very talented and has a lot of experience in the music industry.
2. Ray Foxx - 'Boom Boom ( Heartbeat )'
This song has been played on radio like nearly all week, and I've now it's being played on repeat. The UK based DJ has come up with a dance track which will more likely to be played in a lot of clubs and parties. The lyrics 'Boom, Boom' just goes on for several times which gains your attention and makes it an incredibly catchy track. If you guys haven't listened to it yet, I recommend you listen to it now.
3. Calvin Harris - 'Thinking About You'
This Calvin Harris summer dance track has been played constantly for the last couple of weeks, I just can't stop listening to it, it just makes me want to go for a long road trip blasting out the '18 Months' album. Calvin Harris has been nominated for two MTV VMA awards, I really do hope he wins the silver shiny spaceman at the awards ceremony 'Good luck Calvin'.
4. Imagine Dragons - 'It's Time'
I've heard this song last year and just a couple of months ago it's started to get great airplay. It's top of my top 5 songs of the week as I think it deserves to be on it. I just think the chorus has a huge direct meaning with the lyrics ' Now don't you understand, I'm never changing who I am'. This band has done exceptionally well worldwide with their debut album 'Night Vision' and their single 'Radioactive'.
5. Timbaland ft Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado - 'Give It To Me'
This is a classic old school R&B song that will never get old to listen to, I just had this played for a couple of days this week. I'm still waiting for another Timbaland ft Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake collaboration, It's been too long now. Timbaland has worked on Justin Timberlake album 'The 20/20 Experience' , Jay Z ' Magna Carta... Holy Trail' and he has also produced Beyonce's fifth upcoming album.

Ryan Lewis & Macklemore are set to perform at MTV VMAs''
There is only 1 week until the MTV VMAs kicks off and there are many music artists being added to perform at the huge music show.
Ryan Lewis & Macklemore will be performing 'Same Love' at the event, the song is from their debut album 'The Heist'. The hip hop duo are also nominated for six MTV VMAs, I'm pretty sure the duo will definitely win an award or two but you never know they might win all six. I also do think they deserve the nominations especially with the strong meaningful songs they have produced and the success they have gained.
Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Robin Thicke have all also been added to the list to perform at the event.
MTV VMA is to air on August 25, 2013 on MTV.
'' Katy Perry debut new single ‘Roar’ ''
I do think it was a great idea Katy Perry and her music label decided to release little teaser videos for fans so 'Roar' as it will get her more promotion. The videos showed Katy burning her 'California Gurl' wig, appearing at a funeral, a cat roaring and Katy in the recording studio. I think they were very clever videos to promote the single 'Roar' and the end the 'Teenage Dream' era.
When the song was aired on radio, I thought it's another creative Katy Perry pop song which has a huge meaning behind it, the lyrical video is very creative which has emoticons symbolising the lyrics. I thought the song included some reference of Suvival 'Eye of a Tiger' as in the chorus Katy is heard singing ' I got the eye of the tiger'. I predict this song to do well in the charts as it has a meaningful message with a catchy tune.
Katy Perry 'Roar' is the first single from her third upcoming album 'Prism' which is set for a October 22, 2013 release. Katy is also set to perform the single for the first time at the MTV VMA awards on August 25, 2013.

I witnessed twitter go crazy when ‘Applause’ was

up with something different. I don’t really listen to much of Lady Gaga’s music but I like to set myself a challenge
and write about music I don’t normally listen too. Also I remember having to
study about her in my media lessons back during A – Levels and I have learned
she one of the most influential and powerful female music artists in the world.
I give credit to Lady Gaga for smashing records and making history and becoming a successful music artist around the world.
‘Applause’ is Lady Gaga first single from her third upcoming
album ‘ARTPOP’, when I listened to the
song I just thought it’s completely different to any of her previous songs she
released. I do feel like it’s going to
be a hit single as most of her debut songs normally do become a worldwide hit
so it is quite predictable. ‘Applause’
has an electronic pop feel to it with a little bit of rock, in the song she
commands listeners to clap ‘ ‘Put your hands up, make 'em touch, Make it real loud!’’.

Coldplay are going to be releasing a song called 'Atlas' for The Hunger Games sequel. It has been reported that the seven time Grammy award winning band will release their song at the end of August in the lead to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which is out in November.
I have great hopes for this band as they never fail to come up with some incredible songs that have been written and produced by themselves. They have a huge fan base across the globe and I'm sure the soundtrack will be worth a listen. Make sure you get your headphones at the ready as the song is going to be out on August 26, 2013 which is in a couple of weeks time.
Coldplay are also working on their sixth studio album, which I really do hope will be released very soon.
'We Can't Stop' becomes Miley Cyrus first number one single in the UK''
Miley
Cyrus has finally claimed her first number one single with 'We Can't Stop' the
catchy pop song has been on playing repeatedly on radios for a couple of
months. Also her music video went viral making it a worldwide hit as it's
achieved over 100 million views.
In my
opinion I'm not a fan of either the song or music video, but I give the 20 year
old former Disney star some credit for achieving a hit single worldwide. I just
think the music video for 'We Can't stop' is a bit over the top, something
which I believe negatively portrays young girls. I do understand that some girls like
to go out partying and have fun, but surely not everyone your age does what you
do in the video Miley ! I suppose causing controversy and coming up with a
raunchy music video is the only way you can achieve a number one single these
day.

This song has risen to the top spot for my song of the week. I've been listening to 'Thinking About You' since the album 18 Months came out, and I'm still a fan of the single. Calvin Harris has also broke chart history this week by becoming the first UK music artist to have achieved top 9 singles from one album. This is the last single to be released from the album '18 Months', I'm looking forward to what Calvin has in store for his third album.
2. Avicii ft Aloe Blacc '' Wake Me Up''
Avicii's club and summer anthem is still in my top 5 best single list, I just can't stop raving to this song. I feel like this song has done exceptionally well and I really give Avicii a lot of credit for making a great summer anthem. Maybe he and Calvin Harris should team up for a summer anthem next year.
3. R Kelly - ''Ignition'' ( Remix )
This song is on the list for a reason, and that reason is because it's one of my favourite R&B classics. I seem to play it every summer as it's just one of them songs that you need to hear it when your on a long car journey. I just have one question, R Kelly when are you going to make a surprise comeback ?
4. Coldplay- ''The Scientist''
Coldplay is always played in my household, but 'The Scientist' is just one of them classics that will always be a memorable Coldplay song. I was so close of buying a ticket to watch them live at concert but I was really busy at university or had health issues. I really do hope they have a tour coming up after their well deserved break as I'm eager to see them live. Coldplay has recently wrote a song for the upcoming sci-fi adventure film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft Ray Dalton - '' Can't Hold Us''
''Can't Hold Us'' has been on repeat since I was stuck in hospital for two weeks, at first I didn't seem too keen on the song, but it grew on me which I find bizarre. The duo teamed up with Ray Dalton for the hip hop single, I enjoy the chorus where it goes ' the ceiling can't hold us' it's just a really catchy track. The single entered at number three in the UK singles chart.

''Beady Eye cancels V Festival performance''
Beady Eye are cancelling all their August festival performances until guitarist Gem Archer recovers from his injury. The band wrote on their website that they regret cancelling their appearance at V Festival, but can't do it without Gem.
BE is Beady Eyes second album from Liam Gallagher's new band. In my opinion I think the band seems to improve every time they come up with a new album, their last album did well and this album seems to have great reviews. I will be honest I don't listen to Beady Eye as much compared to the band Noel Gallagher High Flying Birds, but from some of the songs I heard from BE and the reviews I have read I respect all the hard work and passion Liam and his band put in BE.
Liam Gallagher has also mentioned that Beady Eye will perform on the live shows of The X Factor series 10 this year.

Calvin Harris has made music history as he is the first British artist in the UK to have achieved nine top 10 singles from one album. His album ''18 Months'' has became successful worldwide making most of his 9 tracks from the album huge hits, this also include his latest single 'Thinking About You''.
I had a huge feeling that Calvin Harris was a dark horse and had something to show the UK and the world what he is capable of achieving. Calvin is also famous for producing and writing the track 'We Found Love' for Rihanna which has sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
I do wonder what plans Calvin is making for his third album, maybe collaborations with his girlfriend Rita Ora ? Also he did mention he would like to collaborate with singer Emeli Sande. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next album as I'm intrigued on what to expect.

'' Jessie J releases 'It's My Party' music video ''
Jessie J has released her second music video from her new upcoming album. In my opinion I think Jessie has made the the pop track look like great fun with a lot of energetic vibes which makes you want to join in, there is also cameos of her famous friends such as supermodel Jourdan Dunn and soul singer Daley.
This tune reminds me of her single 'Domino' which was another of Jessie J's upbeat pop songs, it's something that will just stay stuck in your head even if you like it or not. Just to remind you Jessie J fans, 'It's My Party' will be available to download on 15 September, 2013.
In the video Jessie also visits a various of parties and hangs out with different groups of friends which seems to be the glamorous, rock n roll, urban and punk. I feel Jessie also has a change of emotion as she starts of with an angry mood and then brings out the lively atmosphere by dancing and jumping around.
Jessie J's upcoming album is also set to be released around about September 2013 time.

Mumford and Sons look very different in their music video for ''Hopeless Wanderer'' , but don't you worry the music video has comic actors portraying the famous folk band.
Ed Helms, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Will Forte all play each of the folk singers in the 'Hopeless Wanderer' video giving fans some comedy. At the first minute when I watched the video I was thinking to myself that Marcus Mumford looks different then they started to lip-sync and pretend to play the instruments. I thought the catch was very amusing and it was something you wouldn't have expected from the band, this gave me and I'm sure a lot of fans a surprise. The video has already nearly gained over 2 million views on YouTube on it's only been released a couple of days ago.

In my opinion there is a lot of glamour in this music video something that definitely suits the 'Fergalicious' singer. 'A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)' is featured in the soundtrack 'The Great Gatsby: Music from Baz Luhrmann's Film' , the song shows off Fergies killer vocals and has an upbeat dance rhythm to it with a jazz theme as she teams up with Goonrock and Q-tip. Get prepared as I have a feeling that Fergie will be back with some new music really soon.

Olly Murs has released his new music for his latest single 'Right Place, Right Time' that follows after 'Dear Darlin' which made it self at number 5 in the charts. I'm looking forward to see what both performers have in store for the MTV VMA, maybe we'll have to look out for another of Kanye West's on stage interruption's since his incident with Taylor Swift back in 2009.

' X Factor Diana Vickers new music video ''Music To Makes Boys Cry'' '
Since finishing fourth on series 5 of The X Factor Diana Vickers achieved a number one single 'Once' and a number one album 'Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree'. She accomplished her own fashion line 'Dee V' and also starred in an independent film alongside Clint Eastwood's son called 'The Perfect Wave'.
Diana parted ways with RCA as she didn't agree with the bubblegum pop songs RCA had in store for her. She has now released her new album 'Music to Make Boys Cry' which is to be released on 15 September, 2013 with new record label So Recordings.
Diana has since released her first track from the album 'Cinderella' which hasn't done so well in the charts as it's peaked at number 74. I've got to say it's not a great start but I'm sure her second single 'Music To Make Boys Cry'' should get back in the lead with it's soft pop and elegant tone Diana delivers. I feel like she put more fun and passion into the single 'Music to Make Boys Cry' compared to 'Cinderella'. The music video involves Diana Vicker having a party and has a lot of glitter, glamour and jumping around which makes it more lively.
I really hope Diana pulls up her game or else she will be parting ways with her current record label, unless if they make an effort and promote her the same way RCA did. I suppose we will all have to wait and see what happens with the success of this album.
Diana is to star in new comedy series 'Give Out Girls' which will be aired on Sky Living which should be aired later this year.

Katy Perry has given fans another teaser trailer for her upcoming single 'Roar'. The video shows Katy Perry at a funeral marking the end of 'Teenage Dream' days. Towards the end she lifts up her glasses and smirks.
'Roar is Katy's first song from her third album 'Prism' and the single will be released on the 12th August , 2013. In my opinion I have good hopes for Katy as all this promotion for her single seems to have got a lot of attention so I won't be surprised if it enters top of the charts worldwide.
Katy's second album 'Teenage Dream' gained over 5 million copies worldwide and had quite a lot of successful hit songs. I've got a feeling we will be seeing a different side to Katy probably a more fierce side, but who knows what to expect, we have only 6 days to find out.

Jessie J new single is out and she's ready to party, the pop singer decided not to return as a coach for series 3 of The Voice as she wanted to focus on music.
'It's my party'' is another bubble-gum pop song with some upbeat tunes to it, which makes you want to get up dance and party all day. This song is definitely going to make a spot in the top of the charts, it also reminds me of something Miley Cyrus or Rita Ora would take on.
I know Jessie J likes her party pop anthems a lot and likes to keep it family friendly, so I have a feeling this song will be playing on the radio for a while. Her distinctive voice just gives out her vocal identity straight away, as soon as you put on the radio you know it's a Jessie J song.

I never ever thought I'll be saying this but I'm not a really huge listener of Lana, but this song has got my vote, with her rich laziness tone and a catchy vibe its made it self a hit over here in the UK as it's currently number two on iTunes. I've been playing it over and over again and can't get enough of it. There is also a remix made by French DJ Cedric Gervais which makes the song more lively.

Calvin Harris seems to be throwing out tunes after tunes from his album '' 18 Months'' but this final song from his album is just another summer hit ready to smash the charts. Well done Calvin you've achieved a lot of success with all your singles from ''18 Months'' can't wait to see what you have in store for us all on your fourth album.

'' Mel C up for being a coach on The Voice''
Since Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue announced they are bowing down as coaches on The Voice, there are many eager artists out there who would just love to take the position on the spinning red chair. Former Spice Girl singer Mel C has told 'The Telegraph' that she would certainly be up for being a coach on The Voice 'I'd Absolutely love to do The Voice''.
Alexandra Burke, Rita Ora, Olly Murs and Paloma Faith have also mentioned about their interests about being a coach on The Voice. I think Mel C is experienced enough to be a coach but for the mean time we have to be patient and wait for some future announcements.
